Tough, heavy,  amazingly waterproof but incredibly warm and ages old, this blanket is a treasure  rescued from a resale shop and now aboard my vessel. Few men are permitted to keep such marvellous tokens by wives with more sensitive bents.

Recycled Treasure

Heavy of indeterminate age

Wirey dark coarse curly wool

bordered in a carmine canvas

Nothing defines its fabrication

Home made or manufactured

Is it really a buffalo robe  it’s

Feral scent and dirt offputting

Discarded by a resale shop

Cleaned and folded now it rests

With quiet dignity on my berth

Warming on frosted watches

A comfort on stormy nights

Vividly, carefully, and one might say lovingly, described. A pleasure for the reader!
