I simply despise time change each spring and fall

Shuttled Clocks

It’s called summer time in Europe

Daylight saving time elsewhere

It’s artificial no matter what

A valueless practice beyond repair

Shifting time to stretch a day

By an hour just makes no sense

Stealing time from dream’s display

To face a longer day’s nonsense

Nature laughs at this pretence

Her flora and fauna blithely go

On with life without a glance

At shuttled clocks we worship so

Makes no sense to me either. Just an inconvenience.

I'm recalling Cummings' line about the "colossal hoax of clocks and calendars."

Maybe we should have Winter Shrinking Time! We'll just call the last two weeks of February "spring"! (I'd actually love it if somehow we in the Northern Hemisphere could re-tool August into autumn, words who almost rhyme with each other.)

I like this poem heaps. Thanks for sharing it!
