for ghost, and everyone else. welcome.

last light

redbud leaves and branches dapple

the adobe and flagstone

of our little house and patio

as late spring   early summer   sun

pours from the ever-blue sky

trumpet vines   blaring orange   climb

the trellis   red peppers   rich

with potential   dot the garden   the yellow

umbrella   the color of daylilies

shades us   as do dusty eucalyptus and ash trees

birds and birdsong add movement

and aural life   so nice having thoughts

of you to keep company these

last hours of day   sharing our last light

~

for every sun-dappled moment there are countless dreary, tedious, painful, unhappy moments. i can think of no reason to write of them.

Ooh, who is ghost, Lynn?

It's a beautiful poem. Members of Coo & Co very much appreciate the structures, textures, and colours. We read a little sadness in the sense of a loved one not being there physically, but we know that thoughts may be very warming :>)

I can think, have thought, of lots of reasons to write about dreary moments, but it's nice to consider the sun-dappled ones, too.
