Musings On Rain

Rain falls vertically

The stockade fence is dry

Save the top rail wet

Its high speed transit

Slick demanding caution

For black and grey squirrels

The lawn is dry beyond the

Array of the underground

Sump discharge

In need of this lady rain

Soft and easy on its

 Parched blades

It’s quiet at this sundown hour

No wind  save the micro

Puffs set up by convections

Of cooling concrete working

At vaporizing droplets misting

The stillness this moment of

Nature’s subtle act of

Entropy and enthalpy

A beautiful example of form and content in poetry. A cascade of a poem.

Beautifully done! I like all the imagery. I’m still thinking about the last two lines—they were a bit jarring—but that is because it is unusual to see that topic brought up. And if they send someone to the dictionary, then you’ve done your part for education. But, one must remember, I also didn’t like Tina Turner the first time I heard her and now she is queen! So don’t mind my quibbles—they’re my problem. Just fun to share and talk about.

You paint a vivid picture. I have not seen the word enthalpy in poetry before. Enthalpy in poetry rhymes.

Nice imagery and I like the way you don't waste any words. You might consider "save the wet top rail" to avoiding parsing confusion at "it's" (which caused this reader to back up to sort things out).
