Banyan Tree

Inside of me, I see a tree,
A great old big banyan tree,
With old big branches that my childhood played on,
Branches that are dark brown and strong,
I can still see myself swinging on the branches of that tree,
The tree out there symbolises me,
Now there's destruction of my psyche,
Branch by branch they take it away from me,
I can see the lady with that saw,
Sawing away at a part of me,
I smell the scent of fresh cut wood,
Don't look introspectively Sabina she will continue to do more,
One year they took so many branches out of me,
It left my soul bare and now I can't really see the beautiful, lush, green bushy banyan tree,
For years and years it's been destroyed by the ole English who thinks that they own me,
One day I will regain my tree,
One day my tree will help recover me.

one trick pony The PoetBay support member heart!
A wonderful, troubling metaphor—the end bodes well, though.
