End Again
Will the world end again this yearFor a few oysters and pearls
Streets paved with platinum and golden chips
For many others old banana peels
Stacked in dead end nowhere down at the heels,
Does Heaven even know who gains and who slips
Away into infinite cells of oblivion and blind obedience to
Darkness folds webs of transient light into itself and holds
The cards deep undervest
Time to go, to invest,
A soul for a pass burning fingers for a smoke
The mirror fades a kind of sickly joke
Will the world realize
Nothing is as it may appear
An image for the eyes
Will the world end again this year
