Rumbling

The world keeps rumbling
even when our breaths
no longer mingle
and planets can
never be aligned
without you beside me
frissons of fingertips
tingling beneath the stars
and shooting glances
beneath a fringe
that tangles up and sways
in the ways that you
will ever be and more,
a score of ways
as heartbeats tumble
roaring in our ears.
Nothing can be the same,
above below
or skating on the surface
when deep, so deep inside
I glide into an embrace
and words are honey
and intent a disgrace
of you and I
and I and you
and us and all between
and so far aways,
I love you in the
fundamental way
where words are scant
and bereft
I stretch between the empty space
of us and you and I
and all that lies and
sighs our songs,
so long to meet and kiss and part,
the world still rumbles
on and on and on.

This speaks so much of an individual's longing. The lines "words are honey and intent a disgrace" are quite brilliant. There is so much disappointment here. Very well written indeed.

As the world rumbles on, creaking like a loose floorboard at times, taking us by surprise at other times, disappointing us still other times, and wrapping us in its wide arms still others, what matters to most of us is to love and be loved. And, as your poem suggests, that is a world in itself.

it's hard to write of love, it's too big and words fail, but you've done it. this is beautifully written.

in fashion, there are clothes that can be worn by male or female, the I used here could fit both for a man or a woman...that made me think though

I read this through and silently took a huge sigh then marvelled at the skill and love and care with which this was wrought. It is simply beautiful and probably one of the most moving poems I have ever read. Your artistry shines through the whole piece but the phrase " I stretch beneath the empty space of us and you and I" is a perfect gem.
