From my poetry collection FLOWERS DO SPEAK.

DARLING

Darling, tell the churches to be silent.
Let me hear God speak through birds.
Darling, tell teachers to be on mute.
Let me learn nature by looking at the sea.

Darling, tell politicians to be at last speechless.
Let me live my life with the laws of my heart.
Darling,tell policemen to be humane.
Let me find my way with rights and freedom.

Darling,tell mother not to worry.
Let me be myself even if that means living with no glory.
Darling,tell father not to drink.
Let me learn what love is through a family.

Darling,tell God to wake up.
Let me respect Him by respecting animals.
Darling,tell me to shut up.
Let us make our love a new star in the silent sky.

I come late to this gathering, and can only humbly offer my extra appreciation. I liked the progressive nature of the poem, and it speaks volumes.

I think you must have thought about this very deeply, Afrodite. The result is quite special, and very poignant. Bravo!
