A Poet Composes Lines in the Absence of His Muse

Poets without new odes
are poets without a Muse;
poets whose lines do not flow
are poets we cannot use.

Like artists who do not paint,
or minstrels who do not sing;
the world has no time or space
for poets so barren in the spring.

If new odes were more plentiful,
and fresh lines were more flourishing;
the earth at this time of year
would thrive and be more nourishing.
