Misunderstood

Began a story that came at a cost
Make sure you listen, do not get lost
3 states, she had lived in, dramatically.
Seemed like it, from where he would see.
She stole hearts everywhere. Oh, the reft!
As he toiled in the 3 rooms, he never left.
Maybe that's it, that says a lot
About whatever follows, happens, or not.
He fell for it all, in the purest form
Word by word, taken by storm!
"Straighten up, soldier. It's just an app"
A voice in his head happened to snap.
But the turmoils, issues, nooks and bends
The forest lures him, as he commends!
Stereotype was broken, digits were shared
He'd gotten his wings, as anxiety aired
The long-held heart, that he had caged
He let it all out, his feelings were staged
Magical for him, she too had fun.
He did a few things, he'd done for none
Some casual chat and a talk over the phone
And she didn't know she'd melted a stone
He totally knew, what's lame and brave
He knew this was mad, he had to behave
But it felt so good, he could cease the moment
Never let it go, freeze it and own it
Freeze it, he'd wish but nevertheless
Things changed one day. Enter, stress!
For days he waited for her to ping
Staring at the phone, as it wouldn't ring
Befuddled and scared, in a mini holocaust
Remembering the good people he'd already lost
He thought to himself, he should concede
What he felt for her, in words he keyed
Refreshing as she was, to him for sure;
He knew all this, was not mature.
Her words appeared, like bullets from a gun
They hit him hard, "I'm seeing someone"
All hell broke down, pitch dark in his head.
He felt punches on his face, till it was all red.
He cursed himself till he almost wept
As for some reason she pinged, "Slept?"
For all he knows, it's a lesson he learned.
He'd thank her for it, if she could be concerned.
Playing with fire? He'd never have known.
But surely someday, he'll light up his own!
