a play on the traditional rhyme, saddled with my trademark use of metaphors

for your wedding

i am your something old
for a winter night, when it's cold
outside, and you need someone who knows
how to hold you, and keep your toes
and fingertips warm, a comforter

i am your something new
for a summery day, a fresh cold brew
a magical cold breeze, a cold shower
a potpourri of emotions and oranges sour
nosotros caminamos en la playa, a sandcastle

i am your something borrowed
for a rainy afternoon, a shared cigarette
and burrata with tomatoes on a baguette
staring out of the balcony of our villa
noiseless conversations, an umbrella

i am your something blue
for an autumnal funeral, a love worn out
mellow smiles replaced by a furious pout
a gift for your new j'adore, brilliant art
a place you'll always be, my heart

A really good poem, this. I like the way you have repetition in the first line of each stanza (doesn't always work, but this does). It is of course also sad. One sided love can only be painless when it is absolutely unconditional - and that is really really hard to achieve I think.
