ten cents worth

 

 

remember gumball machines

put a penny in the slot

turn the handle 

a colored gumball drops out

 

i had ten pennies

turned the handle ten times

ten words fell out—

 

  

half moon

over the withering midday scape

 

sky so blue

lightly like a feather
