108 years ago the world was plunged into a pit of darkness, from which it is yet to emerge. The war against Ukraine is just one of the results.


August 1914

28 June. Archduke Franz Ferdinand assassinated.
28 July. Austria -Hungary declares war on Serbia.
31 July. Russia mobilises.
1 August. Germany and France mobilise.
3 August. Germany declares war on France and Russia.
4 August. Germany invades Belgium.
Britain declares war on Germany.

11 November 1918. 22 million dead

This is the world they have made,
and this world shall unmake them;
for from now on they cannot climb
back up the slope that the world
they have made is rolling down on.
