Shadows

Why do shadows stay in shadows,
It's a thought that worries constantly.
Who said shadows could follow shadows,
Whenever that they could it wasn't you or me.

What sort of ghostly apparition could a shadow be,
I don't often see them at winter time.
So why do they in summer follow me,
Have you ever tried to chase one away.

Thought I might live my life all alone,
Until the day I noticed following me home.
Hiding behind another shadow,
Was a shadow of my very own.

There's Always a shadow that follows us around,
I often wonder will a shadow leave.
When what it's looking for is eventually found,
If Shadows decide to disappear.

Will we miss not having them around,
How strange it will seem to be.
When we finally realise,
They're following you and me.

I can only ever surmise,
If a shadow stays with us when we are alive.
Does it never leave us until the day we die,
Wonder does a shadow understand who we are.

Or after collecting information on our life,
Get back into their spaceships heading home.
To where they live amongst the stars,
I think of this most everyday.

I'll never ever think of shadow the same,
Wondering if their planet is very very far.
One day soon I hope we will join them,
To live our life amongst the many stars.

Then maybe just maybe the shadows,
May finally understand.
Just who and what we are,
As I said before I hope that this will be soon.
Mankind found them on their first venture in space,
Living their lives quietly, Waiting.
On the dark side of the moon.

Shadows never seem to overcrowd and never require much room either, give them a sliver of the whole width of a river would shadow on if light lets them.
