Odissea ( pronounced oh Dee see ya ) was a 50' ketch in which my wife and I sailed around the Caribbean for three years. The night watch was magical.
Approaching Indigo
Star clusters Queen Anne’s Lace
Against a lightless death black
Wrapped in a magenta veil
Horizon indistinct but for hints
Of phosphorescence at the
Vanishing point
The surging quarter wake
Populated by flying fish
and iridescent dolphins
Backglow of lanterned red and green
Hints at reality this phantasmagoric
