Remembered stories from the past

My grandson reminded me,
Of a similar thing that happened to me.
He was in a fast food shop
While telephoning me.
" Can I have a double beef burger please ".
Reply came back. " No sorry we don't
Do double beef burgers ".
He asked. " In that case can I have a
double cheeseburger, With no cheese ".
While up north popped into a pub
that served grub. There was a sign up
That advertised beef burger and chips,
Buy one get one free. So when we only
Wanted one he said. "But you've got to
Have the second one it's free".
Nothing that we said would persuade
him otherwise, even though we didn't
want it, He still cooked it and served it!
While in a little chef ( went there for the
Experience) the food was terrible,
One of the best put downs,
was delivered by my young grandson.
When he called out, " waiter, waiter
Could you tell the cook; That ice
cream was the best meal he's
Ever cooked. We stayed at a place
that did full English breakfast,
Asked for a fried egg sandwich.
For my 4 year old grandson,
As they said they couldn't make one,
I asked for a extra fried egg.
Could they make it solid.....
I just slapped it between two slices
of buttered bread.

I love this poem. You have communicated a happy family memory in a way that's very YOU. And I especially loved the ending and how visual it was.

Nice observational one, Alan. Reminds me of my eldest daughter in a famous sandwich bar in the City. She was about six at the time. "Can I have a lettuce sandwich please?" They humoured her - probably because there were seven of us and the order was quite substantial. Plus, you remind us that there is always a way around these things. :)
Blessings, Allen
