—a poem written (more or less) in heroic couplets...

To Love, or Not to Love

“To love, or not to love?” that is the line,
the focus which most justifies mankind.
To be a god amongst men, and unloved,
is woe: even wild beasts are not unmoved
by such disjointed souls, the otherworldly,
who fill the annals of human history.
We, being so much better than feral beasts,
ought subdue (and crush!) the bitter, evil yeasts
of our spite: then love these lonely souls, men
and women like the wielder of this pen.

One thing is certain; we are NOT any better than feral beasts! That is a gross misunderstanding. Second thing: We can't decide to fall in love, even if Bob Dylan seemed to think so on his album Street Legal... But the form, the shape, the flowing caress of the poem is admired!

This for me evokes Hamlets soliloquy, and that is a compliment; as indeed it would not shame the Bard - Bravo Ngoc!
