My valedictory poem here.  It won't make much sense for non UK readers, as it refers to one of the worst miscarriage's of justice, involving hundreds of sub post office masters being wrongly persecuted due to a faulty computer system - Horizon.

Lost Horizon

Please don’t accept that

Knighthood Mr Bates;

Just think first of the

Company you’ll keep.

All the arse lickers,

And the City slickers,

Plus, the Politico creeps.

All those Sirs, who

Are really just curs.

So, keep your integrity,

And tell them were

To stick their bribe,

Where the sun don’t shine,

Or maybe words more kind.

A very good point, Dougie, and an excellent piece of advice to the man. Your societal poem, is, of course, spot on, and so on point. Blessings, Allen

From what I've read, it does seem that they were very badly treated.
