Melancholia

Living this life

is riding a monster

The skeleton is dressed

in meat

I refuse to call it "I"

From inside

your heart may explode

From outside

an extra-solar traveller

may hit

The trusting little child

in his warm bed

at nightfall

is fooled

There is a Melancholia*

rising

in all of us

*Lars von Trier: Melancholia (2011)

“There is a Melancholia*
rising
in all of us”

Perfect ending to this, and true.

Fun fact: I stayed up and watched the movie the other night. It has haunted me ever since!

I like Wikipedia's precise: Lars von Trier offers a metaphor for the attitude of humans facing a world in which they will no longer be able to live, a world that they have destroyed How many years ahead of its time was this! Blessings, Allen
