Remember

I'm surrounded by brilliance,
Amidst it all I feel insignificant at times,
Ivy schools, suits and ties,
Talking about capital markets,
As time flies by,
And here I am a speck in the crowd,
Maybe not as intelligent,
I can't stand tall,
I get by unnoticed,
I don't turn heads,
I'm as plain as plain can be,
People do call me smart,
So much potential they say,
When exactly will that potential bear fruit?
When exactly will I be smart enough?

I've stopped fearing much in life,
But I do fear this,
That I would one day leave this world,
Having contributed nothing,
Having done nothing,
Neither good nor bad (and I certainly hope I do nothing bad),
And no one would remember me,
My imprint on this world would be,
Of a mere speck of dust in this crowd,
All I really hope one day,
Is that someone would remember me.
