City Of Rain
Almost remember when we wore clothes woven of light and shadow threadWalking with someone else who was who we were
Finding a way through cut out silhouettes of buildings or trees
The windows were leaves as though seen in a mirror of rain
Wet static bumps appeared to be read like patterns of braille
You were invulnerable and frail so soft and sharp like notes that rang
Notes of that which is yet to be, noting that which is no more
The leaves were like windows
Shining like mirrors in trees tall as buildings
Rhyming like those moments that were lived in once, so long before
In a city of rain walking with someone else who was
Who were we, we were set in the way of things
Tied to the day, too tried now to betray
One who was,
Living for the beats of our bones and breath
Running from nights of sorrow and death
Like dark rivers of silvery blood flowing like pain
Detached ears of pink boat flowers
A drifting light from base powers
Shining like mirrors, windows and leaves, cities of rain . . .
