I've Become Fusty
I demonstrate facility, sometimes evince a little pique,
But passion? Unfelt, it's not there. My latest crush
Has been away for years. The ones who came before
Are ghosts, more names than memories. Will another
Simply show up? Possibly. That's what they do. If
One arrives, you'll be in luck. I'll don my Dylan Thomas
Suit and dazzle you with heady phrases, ecstasies
And great despair, the passion that is more compelling
Than facility.
