Subaru forester 2012
I wait on the grassThe wind will pick me up
Or it will be the old Subaru
That my parents drive
I think they cling to it because they are afraid of movement
The girl in the grass is too young to say this
I haven’t found out who I want to follow
Time is movement
It’ll carry me to adulthood
Where I will be allowed to have these thoughts
It will carry me through the halls of this high school
And make me feel small
It will carry me off the grass
To this Subaru
Who moves as much as I do
Through endless gray roads
And through the thick snow
Of the winter I grew up in
It has four wheel traction
This should make it invincible
But every month
It ends up at the shop
Some crying some cutting
To keep it going
This Subaru is like me
Stuck in a body that needs rest
But can’t drive long enough to find it.
