To my love ~ Was it coincidence or was it fate which brought us together during these last years of our lives, in this the final chapter? Whatever the future holds, I feel stronger and braver with you at my side. Onward.
of laughter and love,
of sharing and resting,
are balm to my soul,
restoring peace in a time
when collapse feels imminent,
when tension radiates like waves in the ocean,
moving ever closer to a tsunami of destruction.
Were it not for you, my love -
with your gentle strength,
your quiet wisdom,
your unshakable courage,
your determination to live fully until you reach the shore -
I would have drowned in despair weeks ago.
I am not a strong swimmer.
I thrash about in strong currents.
But I can tread water,
not drag you under with the weight of my sorrow,
or clutch at you as if you are my only life raft in this storm.
So I promise to let my love buoy you as yours buoys me-
to make you feel loved,
appreciated, desired, and respected.
Lucky for me, these things come easily -
because you are you.

Held Afloat
These precious hoursof laughter and love,
of sharing and resting,
are balm to my soul,
restoring peace in a time
when collapse feels imminent,
when tension radiates like waves in the ocean,
moving ever closer to a tsunami of destruction.
