Profit and Loss Statement
What I thought I had lostI found within the act of losing;
Glittering amethysts amidst the muck,
hidden, sequestered and confusing,
upon my seeking heart embossed.
Things you may have lost:
a friend, a parent, a lover, a child,
innocence, a job, a streak of luck.
the smile someone once smiled:
look beyond the icy wind and the frost.
There will come a time of more loss,
but the loss will ignite our will to seek,
to seek the amethyst in the muck,
to find at the end of the abyss a peak
and a bridge of peace to cross.
