How a vague fear sometimes falls upon as if from nowhere.
Fear: Cloudburst
The thunderheads cluster in the south--bluster.
Menacing, layers of convection, strata of mist
congregate as if to preach. Ominous steely fingers
up to no good, down to a drowning flood,
reaching outward, onward, to find us unprepared,
Oh, it's you again. Casting over my courage,
my thoughts you have electrified, overcast,
cloudy moods, you steal upon me like a rabid dog,
yapping, yelping, baying, snapping at my feet,
you're no friend of mine, fiend! My well-being
has evaporated into this deluge, this cloudburst
of fear, irrational fear, the worst kind.
