Castle of Night

I'm lonely in amongst these books up east;
there's a woman down the hall down west,
my body tingling with worries

I'm not hungry, just empty
as I turn off the light with a click;
sail through the night with eyes unconscious
in the consolation of two distant friends,
while a housefly defies October,
defines this sandpaper moment
with its buzzing crumhorn
through the Castle of Night

Life signs flicker in hospitals & prisons,
death ruling Callisto & Ganymedes,
while, in the dark,
someone digs a hole for grief

Some do bury their grief. I try to live with mine, hopefully learning something from it. Beautifully constructed poem with original imagery.
