Shinko Kimonos & Eternity's Leakage
The hyperopic language
is desolately scattered;
fragmented across vast expanses,
sparse as the galaxies’ star-numerosity,
yet fully decipherable at a distance,
out of temporal voids,
as Andromeda,
2.5 million light-years away,
takes on body, is granted appearance
and wears its hat at a jaunty angle
before the inevitable encounter
with the Milky Way;
a cabaret artist of the cosmos
in Maurice Chevalier style,
jauntily debonair on the cosmic stage
Age aches;
tries to catch my ache-tension
in pauses that form a world of their own
of interludes, dashes & apnea
in the untold, the unspoken, the unheard
In holy emptiness the word hovers
(which was in the beginning!)
unclouded
by thought, articulation
& the pressure waves of air
In the unconditional, one breath is drawn,
one heartbeat beats
Through a raised sun-fan
eternity’s leakage seeps
into a dazzled moment,
in which intermittence’s string of pearls
is perceived
through the shadowy lattice
of quantum mechanics
Heavy is (after)thought,
light-footed is the world
in its swing;
the bodies faintly discerned
in sketchy watercolors
& elegance’s brittle rice-paper calligraphy;
like gusts of wind in gaps of time;
the horizon dressed
in parade-standing Shinko kimonos,
car-paint gleaming
with an Oriental haiku emphasis
on select mornings & evenings;
the koan metaphors as hard to crack
as Povel Ramel’s coconut,
while the present helplessly struggles
like the salmon upstream through the rapids
to its spawning grounds
