Wacky word play...

Leavings

A page is sometimes called a leaf--
is then the maple in the backyard
dropping pages this morning?
What a pageant that would be!

Sew together some willow leaves--
Voila! we have a book!
But will it sell? Leave it be.

The man next door says he's leaving today:
I don't be-leave him, though it's re-leaving
to think so, even al-leave-iating.
just another page in our Book of Leaves:
its s-leaves promise a good read,
but I don't be-leave it.

Reading this a-leave-iates the Wednesday doldrums. I'll roll it up and tuck it in my s-leave.
