It’s getting more and more difficult to trust anything I read or hear. And when I write “journalists” I, of course, don’t mean them all. IMO, seems like 24/7 news outlets transformed our world and not for the better. $$$
way back in 1970:
“The revolution will not be televised.”
Where are they now -
the truth seekers,
the truth sayers,
the journalists who chased a higher purpose?
Fear of lawsuits and scorn
has dimmed their lights.
The privileged few
and the ignorant many
have twisted stories
into propaganda and fairytales -
self-censorship for profit’s sake.
Now we must peer behind the curtain
to discern what is real
and what is true.
Even trusted sources
must be questioned.
Who has been bought?
They betray their creed.
We are the ones who suffer,
decisions made without reflection,
trusting memes to tell the story,
counting likes as evidence of fact.
We live in a world evolving into revolution,
divisions sown by bots and trolls.
“The revolution will not be televised.”

Behind the Curtain
Gil Scott-Heron predicted todayway back in 1970:
“The revolution will not be televised.”
Where are they now -
the truth seekers,
the truth sayers,
the journalists who chased a higher purpose?
Fear of lawsuits and scorn
has dimmed their lights.

Now we must peer behind the curtain
to discern what is real
and what is true.
Even trusted sources

Who has been bought?
They betray their creed.
We are the ones who suffer,

counting likes as evidence of fact.
