I find water in all its forms to be inspirational. Even the drip, drip, drip of my faucet to prevent pipes from bursting reminds me of how essential it is to life. Oh, and to see sunlight glistening on water puts me into a trance of happiness.

The Work of Water

Water trickling along a stream,
glistening sunlight,
clear and cool,
a natural tumbler
turning stones smooth -
patience made visible in our hands.

Water tumbling over the edge
from high land and fallen rock,
the higher the land,
the more the water,
the louder the roar -
power echoing in our souls.

Water gathering in waves incoming
on sandy beaches and rocky shores,
dolphins jumping,
sharks circling,
the world’s aquarium -
an ancient wonder to behold.

Water scattering through green grass growing,
round and round the arcs are flung,
children laughing,
dripping, splashing,
cool relief on a summer day -
joy abundant in our hearts.

I enjoyed this, as it brings to us the gift we have in water, especially when we are the fortunate ones that have it on tap.
