Under the Roof Trusses (II)

Breath narrates
before language

A door
a sandal’s width of mercy
for the Silver Cat

Autopilot breathing
in a room
that lends me space.

The personality:
a feral hall of mirrors

The ages
read by tomography

Languages ferment
in the humus
of tunnels

Life
Bach-primatized
into prayer and curse.

The wisdom of the worlds
hangs under the roof trusses
like unused suits
of a dead superintendent

Rain on the window.
Someone lets something slip

At any moment
the roof may open
and the house breathe infinity

Aspenström lifts the hospital roof.
The sickroom becomes an observatory

Eternity:
unchanged,
indeterminate

A granddaughter passes
through passport control
with pride in her voice

Thought
naked
in Icarus-space

The house endures

Her bedroom in twilight.
Mine in dawn

Below the horizons
wars breathe heavily
through the rosary of hearts
