Frank Ocean’s Seigfried

We’re all just God’s creatures.

If God does not exist,
Well, then we all come from
The same floating space cell
That fell to earth’s oceans
And split to multitudes.

I look at that monkey
What do I see? Myself.
I refuse to pretend
There’s anything in me
Better or more special
Than that monkey, dog, cat,
Crow, pigeon, rat, slug, snail
Or earthworm. All the same.

This boundless universe
Has no social structure.
Floating, colliding rocks
Don’t care much for hubris.
Human ego is small,
Smaller than the dust
From which we must have come.

I’d rather be outside,
With apes, torn to pieces
Than cultivate a world
That pushes all creature
But us to turn to dust
Because God breathed in us.
