10 years ago. I wrote this when I was 20.

Lovelorn Tankas- the first movement

1

A smile like flowers
Hidden behind sharp thorns that
Prick when picked quickly.
I have bled too much, so now
I must learn to be gentle.

2

Eyes like Medusa;
I just cannot look away:
My body turns stone
But the cracks inside break down;
Like in a sieve they fall through.

3

Hands that won’t let go,
In the deep corners of night,
When we’re all alone,
But when morning comes, the light
Draws you away. We’re untied.

4

Tangled flesh, they speak
More than words when you lay near.
Swaying like wind chimes.
The breeze, so soft, draws me in.
The music’s there when you sigh.

5

Cuts on her wrist, I
Want to wash them all away.
Old loves writ on sand
Like the waves, erase them all.
My love’s boundless as the sea.
