A mute's monologue
Voiceless but not helplessmime my voice
fulfills my need and choice,
an elbow tug, a warm hug
intimacy shared lips sewn
ebullient in though tongue tied
silent to everyone but myself;
speak I only in written words
when all are speechless
lips unmoving, unmoved
how
I love, I dream, I feel, I care
but wordless who I am
in a world of word life.
