Grateful
Today was Earth’s special day.For every walk along wooded trails,
where wildflowers bloom
and fungi spring from dark soil
and dying tree roots,
I am grateful.
For every toe I dipped
in cooling streams,
where water talks with tumbled rocks
and sunlight whispers its reflection,
I am grateful.
For every joyous jump
over crashing waves,
where sandcastle creations
are just hours away from destruction,
I am grateful.
For every view of stark stony cliffs,
mountains blue or capped in white,
where animals make their homes
and raptors soar to heights unknown,
I am grateful.
For every moment I felt the sun,
its warmth and light uplifting,
a reminder that cold and grey passes
and spring always comes,
I am grateful.
For each loud boom and flash of fire,
dark clouds building a stormy surprise,
where rain falls, begins its cycle
of sustaining us all,
I am grateful.
For the silence of falling snow,
the moments that follow
where peace blankets my world,
and all is quiet, feels pure,
I am grateful.
