But Stand I Will

My granddaughters deserve more,
more than their world regressing
into demands for silence,
calls to shackle them
to home, to strip away
their right for “more”-
dismissing their minds
to use their bodies.

My grandsons deserve more,
more than a war erupting
into demands for soldiers,
calls to force them
into mandatory service,
to strip away their choice -
dismissing their minds
to use their bodies.

I deserve more, more than
this chaos born from greed,
from religion used
as excuse to control us,
to limit our choices,
filter our information,
submission the aim-
to dismiss our voices,
to kill our bodies.

My grandchildren deserve more, much more.

I cannot stand for long,
my body old and worn,
but stand I will, for mine
and yours.

I stand for them.

Bravo, Melinda. Those who can, should stand alongside you. And those that can't stand should be shouting out or meditating on it. The World needs to feel the energy and will to overcome, Nazism, avarice, and cruelty. ( With a smile on my face: I think 'aquious' is with us!) Blessings, Allen
