Not a perennial

I was told it was a perennial,
A once a year tulip,
That was five years ago,
Each year it shows its head,
Natures work of art,
Each year I take a photo,
Better than the last,
It stands proud,
Yellow, red and loud,
It shouts ‘joy to the world’,
But I was told it was a perennial,
I think I’ll dig it up,
Take it back, complain,
Ask for my money back,
I was conned, taken for a fool,
I didn’t ask for this much joy,
Not year after year,
Yes, I’ll take it back,
I’ll plonk it on the counter,
Say “Look, call this a bloody perennial do you….
Its still fucking flowering”,
And then I’ll get my money back,
And get a real perennial,
I’ll not be taken for a fool.

Delightful. Don't return the tulip, even if they double your refund.

An enjoyable read, amplified by the fact that my wife and I despair at the plants we have bought from online suppliers! Your protagonist is obviously an urban warrior, and despite the intentional sarcasm, he has a point, no? :o) Blessings, Allen
