An attempt at a poem with rhyme.
a quiet corner, safe and kind,
but safety, I have come to find,
is sometimes only in one’s mind.
A poem evokes a thought to share,
a kind critique to plant a seed,
a comment meant to show one cares,
a way to say “ I see you there.”
To differ should not mean diminish,
a critique need not be shared,
and how we frame our discontent
can build a bridge or lay a snare.
We write to grow, to reach, to share
the fragile things we dare to speak.
Tend this space with what you’d want,
it’s only kindness we should seek.

Safe Space
I thought I'd found a place to breathe,a quiet corner, safe and kind,
but safety, I have come to find,
is sometimes only in one’s mind.
A poem evokes a thought to share,
a kind critique to plant a seed,
a comment meant to show one cares,
a way to say “ I see you there.”
To differ should not mean diminish,
a critique need not be shared,
and how we frame our discontent
can build a bridge or lay a snare.
We write to grow, to reach, to share
the fragile things we dare to speak.
Tend this space with what you’d want,
it’s only kindness we should seek.
