Just Keep Going
Our inner voice whispersjust keep going,
you can do it.
Give the job you despise
another day,
give the relationship that brings despair
another chance,
just keep going.
Perhaps pride fuels the need
to try and succeed where we do not fit.
Or maybe fear keeps us moving -
not knowing where another path may lead,
we choose to stay put.
Wherever we go, there we are.
Might as well just keep going.
Here.
When we do not pause
to weigh the cost of the going,
we can miss the beauty
of what is possible when we slow down,
maybe even stop,
to step out of the dark
and onto a well-lit path.
Choosing to change course
is not defeat.
So when the world tells us
to just keep going,
remember it’s not a one-way street.
Turning off, or turning around,
or stopping to rest -
that, too, can be the road
back to ourselves.
