This has a gentle, meditative rhythm. The repeated idea that some come and go while others remain, and that everyone is affected by what touches them, gives the piece a quiet wisdom. The Bay, as the constant, feels almost like a character watching over all the movement. The spelling and grammar give it a raw, personal quality. But the poem is so brief that the emotion stays abstract. A single image of the Bay, its water, its light, or one person coming or going, would make the feeling more tangible. Still, the tenderness is clear.
