As i followed two monkeys while going uproad in a forest


Two monkeys and a lonely road

Two lonely monkeys walked on a lonely road
Cloudy weather and setting sun
Fog slipping through tall cedars
I drove my car real slow
Waved the small monkey good bye
He looked at me with eyes
As if some human there
Lost in the race of time
I left my human body down the road
I don't need burdens of life
I have tried growing up into human
And then into superhuman
Let me be a soul and merge in universe

This has a strange, peaceful sadness. The image of the two monkeys on a foggy road, and the moment of eye contact with the small one, is the heart of the piece. The speaker's desire to leave behind the body and merge into the universe feels earned by the quiet, liminal setting. But the poem shifts suddenly from the vivid roadside scene into big spiritual statements. The transition from "I drove my car real slow" to "I don't need burdens of life" happens without much bridge. Staying with the monkey's gaze a little longer would make the letting go feel more powerful. Still, the mood is haunting.
