bridging gap

"bridging gap"

Two banks reach out—

beam, timber,

each trying the air.

Midstream, the river waits.

For a breath

the halves almost touch.

Then the angles slip,

the gap widens,

and one side keeps building

into nothing.

The river carries away

what falls.

.
