What They Represent

For many years I said I would never

But when I lost the man I loved and admired most

My first one took shape in my head

And soon after the ink embedded in my skin

For you daddy…I will always be your little girl

My life spiraled out of control

And year after year I lost myself

Then before I knew it I had to get more

What happened to me…

The little girl who said she would never get one?

I died the moment I realized you were cold

No life left in the man who gave me more love than I ever needed

A girl who has always been her hardest critic

Full of many years of doubt and fear

Each day after that was a day longer than I wanted to live

Each tattoo a reminder

To never forget…

A special someone,

Who I was, who I am…

And who I will become
