this was inspired by two frightening, memory-inducing events

Ghost of the Past

Yes, I'm on the sidelines
Late, by minutes
And I float on by
Staking my position
in the enemy camp
Don't let the wind come
Face struck with awe
Yes, I came back

Yes, I'm out of my comfort zone
Against the back wall
And you float on up
Liquored in pursuit
of bringing thoughts back to surface
So I hold you up, let it go
Farewell before too long
As we slip 'tween worlds of time
and disappear again

keith nunes
the last two lines are particularly haunting

Very hauntingly emotional and vivid..
