children have that overarching ability to believe and forgive, and too many have that taken away

My Little Princess

"The deepest definition of youth is life as yet untouched by tragedy"- Alfred North Whitehead

Innocence personified,
my angel walks with bells on her toes
A skip in her step like a newborn lamb
Her skin is soft, unmarked, unblemished,
Unhardened by the cold bite of the wind
Unburnt by an unforgiving sun.

She whistles a fairytale
'tween teeth of porcelain,
White as a black man's,
That light up her smile
Like a lamppost lights a darkened street,
Pure, unbroken

No stereotypes for this little one,
No pony shall ever be wished for
This princess wants her crown to be melted,
The gold given to all with soul
My little princess wants sweetness in the air,
My princess wants to believe
