False Hope

There's a sadness in my eyes
Why can't you see it?
Every time I look at you
I'm forced to smile
And believe that everything's alright
And it's going to stay that way.

And yet, you never seem to realize
That the smile I give
It's not me, how can it be?
How can you believe that slight movement of my lips,
That one second, split second glance to your face
And see in that, a happy, carefree girl?

I don't understand.

There's a sadness in my eyes
And you fail to see
Because you're living in your dream world
Where you think everything is perfect --
But your life, my life, will be changing in a matter of moments.

Pretending won't make anything go away.

There's a sadness in my eyes.
But I can't cry,
Because I promised.

But some promises are hard to keep.

how I feel this
poem of emotions here
these lines:

"Pretending won't make anything
go away"

how we assume at times to pretend
to others as within you know you are
torn..
a very heartfelt write!!!
