The Process


It's hard to let go of something
That means so much to you.
"Sometimes the hardest things
are the right things to do"
Is what you tell me,
With a bittersweet voice
And I believe it,
I really do.

Another time,
Another place
I know
That someday,
You may come back to me

But we are only human
Humans who live in the present
Not in the future
Nor in the past

And we can only make the best
With what we have,
Right now.

Yet I feel a small twitch
Upward, on my lips
As I think about it all
And I realize
That
When all is said and done
You're still going be on my side
You're still going make me smile
You're still going to be here for me

And you know I'll do the same for you.

I'm sorry
For pouring out my pain on your heart
I'm sorry
For all the worry I have caused you
I'm sorry
For doubting the words that you say

I'm sorry that things couldn't work out
