Futile Devotion

Your head's spinning in a whirl
One pretty messed up girl
Confused by the love of a boy
Blinded by being his toy
He reaches out to touch your heart
Oblivious of his newly sharpened dart

His promises are like a woven tapestry of words
A slick movement to pull the right chords
You're the puppet and he pulls the strings
Doubt and heartache is all it brings
Your love and passion will never be returned
Girl your fingers have already been burnt

You're the façade that paves his way
A family that doesn't approve he is gay
With flying colours he failed each test
Lady give yourself a rest
Head out in the world and explore
There must be someone else to adore
