All at sea

What care I about art and craft
as long as I am honest and have feelings to express
with some sincerity that is worth while expressing;
and to make it properly expressed correctly is my sole ambition,
not allowing any straying pedantry to interfere.
It is much more important to keep focussed
as the pilot on a wayward ship blown off the ocean,
no one knowing where we are or on what course we are,
this ship of love with tattered sails
and without any charts to follow
leaking from a million wounds and worries
and with nothing safe at all to hold on to
if we should sink – except our valid friendship.
That alone is all the safety in the world,
and as long as you have friends to turn to
and your love is nothing but a friend
no storm can blow you anywhere but home.
